Deborah Ann Googe, aka da Googie, legendary bassist of shoegaze titans My Bloody Valentine, joined me for a quick video interview to discuss their first tour as a solo artist.
Deb provided background to their first solo recordings, revealed their all-time bass-slinging hero, and provided some exclusive news about the idealistic, visionary, determinedly maverick MBV.

Please enjoy the full interview by clicking on the image below. You can also head over to the ever-wonderful Paul Dupree’s show on City Sound this Wednesday between 20:00 and 23:00, in which the interview will be supplemented with some songs from Deb’s astonishing back catalogue and much more. Deb also has a new digital single out ‘Kiss Me You Fool!’
But it’s not all about the lovely Debbie.
Joint tour and split single with Too Many Things
‘Gloomy noise, politico-romantic psych by Marion Andrau [The Wharves/Underground Railroad/Throw Down Bones] and Jem Doulton [Thurston Moore Group/The Oscillation]’ (copyright Too Many Things) are touring partners of Debbie. Indeed, the two acts released a fantastic split 12-inch last year. Check it out here.

Debs has worked with many other acts, apart from MBV, namely Snowpony, Thurston Moore Group, Tim Burgess, Primal Scream, Brix Smith, and Anne Waldman, a poet who, with Allen Ginsberg, founded the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics.
It was while part of the Thurston Moore set-up that a connection was made with Jem and working relations were established.
