Simon Heartfield and Kontort live sets at Radio City Social
Simon Heartfield is seemingly a man in a hurry. After quitting his full-time job a year ago to pursue his music career, yesterday he released a gorgeous LP, Symphonien, and much more music is to come.
I spoke to Simon about his recordings, upcoming live shows, Vivien Leigh, Wayne McGregor, Throbbing Gristle, and System 7. Ballet, techno, and industrial music. This blog certainly covers many bases. Please watch our conversation by clicking the arrow in the image below. (Please excuse my lack of video editing skills.)
Simon will be playing live to promote his releases. Next Saturday (2 November), he opens for Halina Rice at the Oxford O2 then is on the bill at Glasgow Attack Release (27 October). He supports System 7 at Wedgewood Rooms in a (near) hometown show in Portsmouth (22 March). (He lives in Southsea.)
Check out Simon’s incredible back catalogue on Bandcamp.
Symphonien is out now on Shady Ridge Records.
Moolakii Club Audio releases Scenes From Above. An accompanying remix EP of album tracks will be out in December.
The State of Social Movement is out in the first few months of 2025 via Machine Records.
Also in the pipeline is a 7″ split remix single with Belbury Poly on Castles In Space.

I am a music writer, blogger, and promoter. I originally established Even Butterflies Make A Sound to re-publish music reviews I published last century. However, the blog has taken on a life of it’s own and is the better for that. Please enjoy not so responsibly.
