Japan noise merchants Qujaku UK tour

Qujaku bring their unique blend of avant-jazz, doom, heavy psychedelia, and much more to Chelmsford’s Hot Box next Wednesday, 20 August. The end-of-UK-tour support comes from local noiseniks The Trial. Head over to DICE FM to get you tickets by clicking here.

Qujaku background

Formed in 2013, the Japan experimental band are based in Hamamatsu. Their debut release Keiren (So I Buried Records) came out in 2016. Qujaku released three EPs after that before their most-recent 12″-single Ruiteggaakupanshi (2024) on the same label.

Qujaku’s own words:

Their dark, heavy psychedelia is replete with rich distortion and feedback creating a unique decadent ambience. The apocalyptic sound they muster fuels an urge to release from the everyday to discover an ephemeral beauty behind the fierceness. The delicate yet strong leading voice, filled with destructive guitar, repetitive rhythmic percussion, and deep, bellowing bass combine to create Qujaku’s unique sound atmosphere to preoccupy the mind and enhance the experience.

Qujaku essential info

Vocals, guitar – Shuya Onuki
Bass – Hiromi Oishi
