This year’s edition of the annual, nationwide, Record Store Day takes place this Saturday (April 20). In Chelmsford, the play hole will be Intense Records #2, in Meadows Shopping centre.
Music of all genres
John Shuffle, Intense Records head honcho, said: “Record Store Day is the celebration of vinyl and record stores once a year in April. Bringing together music fans and like-minded people from all genres. The best day of the year by far!”
Live showcases
The original Intense Records, located in Chelmsford rail station viaducts, will also be celebrating the vinyl extravaganza. A platter of top DJs will be manning the ones and twos all-day long.
And, if that wasn’t enough, some of the acts playing at the Intense main stage will be showcasing new music.
Next week, Chelmsford dream-poppers Magic Seas launch their second LP Everything Has Led Me To Here. George Bone releases his sophomore single “One/Two Summer Fling”. Groovy Psycho will preview tracks from their new LP, which is due for a June release. and modern country pop singer Louise Parker will showcase songs from her new LP The Imperfect Recovery.
Record Store Day arrangements
John explained: “On the day, the exclusive releases will be available on a first-come first-served basis. Early bird punters please queue outside the Meadows main doors on Chelmsford High St queuing towards Barclays Bank. Just before 8 am we will lead the queue into the shop.”
