Revisit Nitzer Ebb’s David Gooday’s solo performance @ Hot Box Chelmsford

One of the founders of Nitzer Ebb, David Gooday, brought some festive cheer to chilly Chelmsford a couple of winters ago. It’s taken a while to post this, we know, but it’s a performance well worth seeing, especially with the Nitzer Ebb tour announcement – it seemed a good time to relive the show.

So, cast your mind back to December 2020. Think hard about what you were doing on a cold, dark night in the middle of December. Perhaps worrying if you’d be able to see your loved ones at Christmas? Or attending a raucous party at No 10 Downing Street? Maybe tuning into I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here for some light relief.

Hot Box led the way with livestreaming

Thank goodness for those forward-thinking folk at Hot Box in Chelmsford, which was at the vanguard of livestreaming during the lockdown. They gave artists a chance to perform and broadcasting directly onto your iPad or smartphone. It was no mean feat.

Think back specifically to Saturday, December 12. David Gooday performed a one-hour set of ‘electronic consciousness’. The set was funky, fresh, free and intimate! Moments of accidental genius were revealed. Follow the link below to see for yourself.

This event was one of a series of events promoted by the ever-caring folk at Even Butterflies Make A Sound. Other events include alt-rockers Giant Drag, techno king Sergio Vilas, and jazz maestro Zak Barrett. This July, solo viola-drone artist Alison Cotton brings her mesmerising show to Chelmsford.

Conclusion

Live music means so much to most of us. Of course, livestreaming doesn’t beat the real thing, but, in times of crisis, it’s invaluable.
