Q&A with Nathan and Jessie
Have you played in the UK as Nathan & Jessie before?
Jessie: “This will be the first time Nathan & Jessie will play in the UK as a band. Both Nathan and I have traveled to London on separate occasions and are excited to play music there together.”
Nathan: “I visited London and the UK last summer and performed solo. I am looking forward to bringing the band this time!”
“We are looking forward to sharing our original music with a new audience and also sharing the stage with our friend Jimbino Vegan. He will accompany us on some of the dates playing clarinet. Jimbino and I have known each other for over 10 years playing music in New Orleans.”
Are there any bands/artists from across the pond, in the UK or Europe, that you are big fans of?
Nathan: “I’ve got a lot of traditional jazz friends around the UK. My favorite artists are Jimbino Vegan and Leonie Evans. She is an amazing vocalist and person!
Jessie: “Oh definitely Django Reinhardt. I also love Edith Piaf. I read about her life and thought it was so interesting that as a kid she would wake up early, perform on the streets to make money for coffee. She would busk all day and always spend every bit of money she made the same day. Even when she became successful and famous she still would spend every penny and earn back the next day. What a character!”
Which current musical acts will you be listening to on the long transatlantic flight?
Nathan: “Post Malone featuring Morgan Wallen, Debussy, Daft Punk, and Doc Watson.”
Jessie: “Blossom Dearie, Bo Diddley, Jo Stafford, Bob Dylan.”
Thank you both and I can’t wait to meet up with you again.
