Tony Page’s photobook showcases India’s vibrancy

Tony Page, the acclaimed, Essex-based photographer, recently launched his debut photobook – India, Bharat Vol. 1 – which documents his journey through India.

With over 21 years’ experience in food, product, people, and travel photography, Tony’s book captures the true soul of India. A country he dreamed of visiting since childhood, which did not disappoint.

Tony Page is a British photographer based in the southeast of England. He has worked across various genres, including commercial food photography, documentary, fashion, and studio practice. Numerous platforms and publications worldwide have published his work.

A personal reflection

The book, born from a visit in 2017, is a deeply personal reflection of the people and places he encountered. While the aim of the trip wasn’t to create a photobook, the images taken during this life-changing journey evolved into such a powerful visual tribute to India’s vibrant culture, he realised he needed to share them.

An unplanned project

“I didn’t set out to create a photobook when I went to India,” Tony explained. “I was just so captivated by the country, its people and the spirited culture. I didn’t quite realise the impact the photos I was taking would have. The memories from those brief, yet profound, experiences stayed with me. Only in hindsight did I realise just what a powerful visual story they conveyed and decided to share them with others.”

If you don’t get lost, you will never find your new favourite place.

India, Bharat Vol. 1 is more than just a collection of images. It’s a sensory journey that immerses viewers in the sounds, scents, and emotions Tony experienced as he travelled throughout the subcontinent. With each photograph, he shares fleeting moments that reveal the warmth, kindness, and raw beauty of the Indian people – offering a unique insight.

Following the book’s launch at Chelmsford’s Hot Box, he said: “I’m incredibly grateful for the support I received on this project. It means so much to share this incredible journey and hear the feedback and emotion evoked in everyone who has supported my journey.”

Tony invites those who want to experience India through his lens, to explore his work, and join him in this visual adventure. You can do so by purchasing the book here.
